Unmanageable Managed Care
The onerous limitations placed on clinicians who choose to pursue insurance reimbursement unfortunately compromises client care. In many instance, managed care requirements place restrictions that reduce an individual’s ability to receive the care when they need it, how often they would like it, where it would be most beneficial, and for how long they would like it in order to make durable changes. While McKee & Associates appreciates a client’s desire to utilize health insurance and will provide a superbill for out of network benefit reimbursement, we are charting a different and we believe better course for those individuals and families who embark on a relationship with us.
No longer will we insist our clients do hard work over the course of their 50 minute session, just about to reach moments of breakthrough, only to be told to “put a pin in that” and to pick it up again in one week or up to a month if that’s what the managed care provider insists upon. We take fewer clients so when you feel your therapy session is reaching an impactful point, we’re able to seamlessly extend our time together. Your emotional well-being takes priority; not your managed care company’s bottom line.
No longer will we be incentivized to place a behavioral or mental health diagnosis on your record in order to be compensated for the care you’re requesting.
No longer will we be placing our clients in the position of speaking with us to manage the chaos in their daily lives, only to have that very chaos preclude them from being mentally or physically present for therapy sessions.
No longer will we have relationships with clients that necessitate obtaining an authorization, proving you are “ill” enough to deserve behavioral healthcare, or navigating through healthcare administration personnel and receptionists before you’re able to speak with your personal mental health professional.
We can’t wait to be able to join with you to create the relationship you or your family member needs to prompt transformative increases in life satisfaction.
